One thing about carps is that they might be dirty eaters but the lake bed were carps exists are much cleaner than the lake beds without carp. They're nature's freshwater vacuum cleaners is what they are. My point is that I highly doubt that the freshwater chum would last for several hours, in fact I think it'll last less than 1 hour depending on certain factors like fish fry or guppies, crawdads and water current as well as temperature. Warmer water tends to dissolve things faster as you already know. I'm sure it was a great catch. I've caught several of these myself, but I'm more of a catch and release type of guy (most of the time). Fishing is my passion. It's my escape from everyday life, it's peaceful and relaxing, surprisingly exciting like a gift from mother nature when you catch that monster. Nothing like breaking your own record. You know that fish that makes you wonder if anybody else has caught one that size? It happens to me every year but there's always one bigger. Always. I'll give you an example, 2 years ago I caught a krappie that weighed 3lbs 9oz. The record was over 4lbs but until this day, it's still the biggest I've seen with my own 2 eyes and I'm never alone when I fish. I think I'm going to start uploading my fishing trips. It's a pretty hot topic as you already know. 👍good fishing

@Qauckus_Shankus yes I agree like a canal that’s miles and miles long between locks you have to pre bait for a long time to stop passing fish in their tracks. If you chum the water up you run the risk of attracting bird life to the spots and they will ruin your fishing

Here in the UK I fish for them as a hobby. They aren't a pest here, in fact....a river carp is something kinda rare, not charizard rare, but not a pest lol can go months without one.

@Mike De vor I know and understand what a landing mat is, and used for. We mainly use them for big pike and muskie. Carp are considered a trash fish here. And we land them with our hands like men.

@Ahmed Aziz we eat all sorts of fish, we are an island surrounded by ocean and have plenty of freshwater fish we eat. But our palette doesn't like carp. They are rough compared to the fish we like. Boney, tough, chewy, smelly. But as anglers of catch and release, they are one of the most sought after fish in the country.
